No smartphone for us, as a matter of principle. We don't need to be constantly available. In fact, we have our answering machine on for our landline 24/7, and we have the ringer off.

Instead of a smartphone, we have a dumbphone. It's a non-camera flip phone that's over 10 years old. The only reason we upgraded to that one was that the phone company was going to charge us extra for using an analog device. We keep the phone off unless we're making a call, which is rare. We never text, so we don't have a data plan.
