Some crazy Canadians have been recruited by ISIS. But since their passports were pulled they fought on our home front. We lost 2 RCMP officers. One was doing honour guard at the monument for the unknown soldier and wasn't even armed. Very sad photos of his dogs waiting for him to come home.

The country is a mess. This is Canada. Passive! It is everywhere too. I have read some and stopped because of overload risk. Lots of risk. 4 party leaders are actually pulling together over this despite going into pre-election mode. Had 1 man not stopped them we could have lost half of our government. Things will definitely change here. So sad.

Friendship/Support  RE: Tough week for Canada
We've read a little about this--enough to get a basic idea of what's happened.

We're sorry.

It was a shock considering this was happening so close to home. I don't believe Canada is passive-I believe we are neutral and will fight if needed. I think it is a very nice gesture that the US are playing our national anthem at hockey games to show their support. It is kinda scary that terrorist attacks are happening on Canadian soil and so close together from the one just recently happened in Quebec. Sad times.....

You are right, passive is the wrong word. I think that the responses that have come from this tragedy proves that we are anything but passive. Perhaps "don't poke the moose" would be a more accurate statement. We don't get riled up until times like this.

speaking from the other side of the world, the measured Canadian response seen on the news is far more impressive than the media hysteria coming from US sources in similar situations. have seen lots of compliments flying round the internet on how Canadians are handling this. it's indeed tough and tragic.

Sad to say, if this had happened in the US, there would be all manner of nut jobs talking about revenge and calling everyone in a given societal group a terrorist. We Yanks could learn from you guys.

I had a chance to see how that happens first hand this last week when that young soldier was brought home. It was absolutely amazing seeing all those people on the bridges over the 401. Not so good for travellers mind you but taking a few hours out of your time to pay respect is a small token I think.
