My friend wants me to be a clock
As long as the outside keeps perfect time
He can go on pretending that the inside is fine.
Tick-tock, tick-tock, tick-tock
To outsiders I always am a clock
I show them only perfect time
So they won't know that the inside isn't fine.
My friend wants to be an outsider
After being invited in
For me this means a terrible hurt
And I'll never trust him again.
