We are in waling distance from where they are set off (well the main one).We went over, tolerated the crowd and had a discussion with a toddler over whether we could trade shoes. He didn't want to trade. Just wanted my red laces. Think his mother thought we were weird. He spotted cops on bikes and got excited. We asked one to stop so he old see them. He got stickers.
At the viewing point we stood for over an hour so we had a good view. They lit up the bridge and at some points it was like the northern lights. In the end they stopped at red and white. The lights were nice and it was actually good to be out with people. Except for the two guys that were fighting with their dogs. Using foul language. From within someone yelled "For God sake shut up there are babies everywhere". It worked!

Good anecdote. Glad to hear that someone spoke up.
They're setting off fireworks in town here this evening. We could probably see them if we open the blinds in the kitchen, but we're not going to bother. The really loud ones, which seem nearer, are bothering us.
