RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - Tangled Web - 12-27-2014 Thanks nats. I understand about the different letters. and I agree that some you shouldn't send. There has been a shift inside lately that I can't figure out yet. I am not entirely sure who wanted to send that particular letter but it was sent. Got over the guilt somewhat and trying to subside the fear that creeps in every now and then.....I haven't felt this "many" in a very long time and it is taking sometime to get used to. Emma RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - nats - 12-28-2014 we've generally believed in being as authentic as possible - e.g. not pretending you love someone or have a good relationship when you don't. we tend to say or write those things other wiser folks wouldn't. never could get into writing letters that didn't get sent.. it definitely narrows our social/family circle but it also keeps a lot of the stupidity at bay. pros and cons.. RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - MakersDozn - 12-29-2014 it definitely narrows our social/family circle but it also keeps a lot of the stupidity at bay. Yes. Less is more. Quality, not quantity. MDs RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 02-24-2015 I think I asked this question once before but I shall revisit it. Has the idea of sponsorship ever been explored? I remember projects in one of the jobs I had being sponsored by one of the drug companies but since that is such a touchy subject I don't know if that is the route to go. But perhaps NIMH or CMHA could spring for a few bucks? It might help us to go forward with some of the ideas we talked about. As well, being connected with these agencies (CMHA is Canadian version of NIMH) might bring more awareness of our forum to people who need it. NIMH always reminds me of Mrs. Brisby and the Secret of NYMH. RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - MakersDozn - 03-08-2015 I think I asked this question once before but I shall revisit it. Has the idea of sponsorship ever been explored? Good point. It would help if someone were willing and able to approach potential sponsors with this question. MDs RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 03-09-2015 I am willing to take on the Canadian side of the border. As it is American based I don't know how receptive they would be but as it has Canadian usage it is worth a try. I wonder how many Canadians are on here. I know there is 1 other who comes sometimes and me but I don't know of others. Is it acceptable to write an open letter asking an American to volunteer for down south? RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - MakersDozn - 03-09-2015 Thanks for volunteering to take on the Canadian side of the sponsorship issue. As for someone here doing the same for the US part of it (and perhaps the UK part?), it would would be great if you started a thread on the importance of sponsorship, once the MM staff (nats, mosaic, Tangled Web, The Warren, and us) have weighed in. MDs RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 03-09-2015 Yes I thought I would do up a draft and show it to powers that be prior to sending it off. RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 03-26-2015 I don't know where to go with this now. It seems like a lot of people have given up so is there any point in doing up a letter? But I went to a few other sites tonight just to browse and a few things struck me. - On one site I would have had to make my email visible. Where is the safety in that? - On another site there is a huge warning re being triggered blah blah blah. That is always something that MM has always been careful with. Safety is the first rule as a long time member always says. Neither of these options appear to fit that rule. I know other people feel the same way that I do. My potential help is no longer with us so I would have to dig around for someone else. Because I honestly think that a big face lift is needed and the people who are most familiar with the program have full time jobs. People like me can write letters etc. but we cannot program to save our souls. One thing that did us in for our last jobs. RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - MakersDozn - 04-02-2015 We wouldn't feel comfortable at either of the sites that you referenced, whatever they are (and no need to identify them). There has to be a balance between safety and system responsibility, and MM has that balance. You've put in so much effort to help this community, and we're grateful and appreciative. MDs RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 04-07-2015 I don't remember what they were anyway. As soon as I saw those rules I walked away. Thanks for the nod. I want to keep it going. For the inner us and the outer us. RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 04-15-2015 I would be willing if people would give ideas of where to approach. For example, are we opposed to drug companies? RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - MakersDozn - 04-23-2015 Good question. It's already common knowledge that DID itself isn't treatable with drugs, although co-existing conditions, such as depression, can be treated that way. And many multiples have such co-existing conditions. Taking off our forum staff hat and speaking as a community member now. It would seem to us that if we did approach such companies, we would need to make it clear that any relationship between them and MM would be contingent on their acknowledging what we mentioned above. On the other hand, we believe that others here may be opposed to reaching out to drug companies for this very reason. So we personally aren't wed to the idea. Let's see what other folks here think. MDs RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - The People - 04-24-2015 I think we should start with professional organizations. After all I think they owe us. Did you get my letter? Did anyone look at it? Know you have your own stuff going on but if I could get feedback I could move forward. RE: What Would You Like to Talk About? - nats - 04-24-2015 hi People, we saw your email but won't have a chance to look in the next few days. maybe someone else on the team has had a chance. personally would not start asking for money from commercial companies as they would have their own agendas, but given the small amounts of money we're talking about we could consider it. |
